You have the right to know that your personal information is kept with the strictest of confidence. Any information that is shared with your service provider should only be used for the purposes of providing you with the highest quality of care. If you share stories or personal accounts of events with your support workers, you should also feel confident that those stories will not leave the privacy of your home.
Confidentiality not only protects our clients, but our workers too. Official policies and forms aid in implementing confidentiality agreements, but frequent conversations about confidentiality are also important. We are all human after all.

Comfortability and vulnerability (within safe boundaries) between clients and workers are great indications of a positive relationship. We want our partnerships to create a sense of safety, familiarity, and warmth. We want our support workers to feel comfortable in your homes, and we want you to feel safe and understood by your team.

Equality within our partnerships is also very important for effective care and support. Equality according to the dictionary means ‘the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities’, but for us it also means that no one is more or less important than another. Everyone deserves respect, care, support, as well as the right to live a healthy, safe, and fulfilling life.
