The pandemic has shown us many things. It has shown us what is most important in our lives, what we can and cannot live without, and the people who are there for us unconditionally. It has also shown us how resilient human beings can truly be. In the face of uncertainty and fear, heroes have emerged. In a time when we are most disconnected, people have found new ways to stay in touch.

The lockdowns have been tough, for some more than others, but they have perhaps put things into perspective. What would we like to take forward with us when life goes back to what we know as ‘normal’, and what would we like to leave behind?

I for one cannot wait to have social gatherings again. For like-minded friends and acquaintances to come together in true connection. To have fun, to dance, to embrace, to chat, to listen to live music. To me, the future of Illuminate Support Services feels warm and comforting. I imagine regular get-togethers with staff, clients, friends, and family. I imagine charity events, social outings, and coffee dates. For now, we must stay separated for a little while longer (thank goodness for things like Zoom!), but when we emerge from this darkness, I believe we will only bring the best parts of life forward with us.

See you on the other side 😊

Illuminate Support Services would like to acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung, and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Peoples for being the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Macedon Ranges, and to thank them for the land on which we live and work. We also pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging for passing on their knowledge of country.
